USC Calculation - Medical Card Holder Earning More Than €60000 Per Annum

    Hi

I have recently commenced a job earning more than €60000 per annum. I also hold a full medical card. I know that as I now earn more than €60000 then the reduced rate of USC does not apply to me and I will be paying the full 7% USC.

Does anyone how Revenue will identify this? Is USC deducted in the same way as PAYE or will I need to actually tell Revenue. What I want to avoid is additional payments taken in future years or huge chunk taken out of my final salary.

    Appreciate any help.

As the old saying goes ................as soon as your circumstances change ,so do your entitlements .

So in your case you need to inform the relevant authorities of a change in circumstances , and this is :
    • The HSE
    • The Tax office
    • your employer
