Correct decision, no comparison between the two, CW front 9/10 holes pure muck IMHO...

If you want a more serious alternative to consider, Castlenock is almost next door to Luttlerstown and a decent course.

Castleknock is usually in good condition but would only classify it as a decent course and not in the same league as Luttrellstown. Quite short and claustrophic but that said it would be well ahead of CityWest.
Didn't CityWest used to have two courses years ago? Have only played Citywest once about 2 years ago and it was very short, tight and holes compacted in on top of each other, that said it was in good condition during the summer so it was an enjoyable round but the 2nd hole in particular is a travesty. Why didn't they make one proper championship course out of the two they had?

Another suggestion if looking to play elsewhere around Dublin would be Roganstown, quite a nice course layout and plenty long and should be available for reasonable money.

When citywest opened it was a class course,it held a few decent tournaments including ladies irish open and volvo masters. I lived behind it and used to caddy on it, But then they changed it around when they wanted a bigger hotel and a helipad??:P, the course across the road was called the lakes and was a lovely course if a little short, thats gone a few years now.
I enjoy playing citywest in the summer when its dry.

It's a shame alright...Citywest was a top class venue when it's opened...now it's a glorified pitch and putt course for taximen.

I think top class is stretching it. There was always a few iffy holes squeezed in to make up the 18. They could probably make a decent nine out of it and use the rest for a proper practice facility.

It was a go to venue for corporate outings back when it opened - Now you'd be ducking out of an invite there.

Castleknock is nice course too, and early in the year may be a better option being alot shorter. Luttrellstown is a completely different challenge golf wise. And is llllllonggggg.
