Hi lads. Just wondering I have a notion to build a car transporter does anybody know if I put brakes lights safety chains all that jazz on it is there somewhere I can bring it to be plated to meet these new regulations? Also have a small single axle low loader for moving a 6 tonne digger it has light brakes etc but it's one we made ourselves so I'd like to do the same with that

Don't think that doing that alone will meet the new regs. It would have to have a braking system for that kind of load. You might need to read up on it.

I have a good homemade trailer too if it were possible to get it plated somewhere surely they could tell me what it needs or not to make it road worthy .

Do a search on the RSA website - www.rsa.ie
I recall reading about 'type rating' for new trailers there.

Since around 2012 you are no longer legally able to put any new trailer, homemade or not, onto the road without a type approval plate.

Of course, any trailer made prior to this date is perfectly legal to tow as long as the coupling/lights/brakes/wheels etc are good (but prove the date......;))
