How to get over fear of noises

I have 3 particular noises that I cant stand. And 1 (irrational) fear.
I mean, I have to leave the room most of the time when I hear (any) one of these noises. Im at total melt down if I hear all of them. 1 of them is also a sexual sound to me.

I am just wondering, has anyone ever had a problem like this and gotton over them? Is there a technique. I was even going to go so far as hypnotism (anyone tried this?).

I dont have any experience of this though i do hate some noises like most people but if you're finding it intruding on your life then talking to your gp would be good. Maybe hypnotism might help but a gp would let you know.

    Hi,

Thanks for your input. I'm not sure why you are advising me to go to GP though. Am healthy as a horse.

Am asking has anyone tried alternative therapies for these types of issues, and more importantly, did they find that they worked?

I'm not sure why you are advising me to go to GP though.

Maybe because your GP will be able to recommend an appropriate therapy/therapist.

Exposure therapy or CBT are the usual treatment options for phobias. You'll need to speak to your GP to get a referral to a suitable therapist, generally. You may be able to find people through online searching, but be sure to check their credentials and qualifications carefully, or they may cause more damage.

I second GP visit but not for the same reason. Not to give medical advice at all but sounds/smells/feelings/touch etc can be triggers for some people for some types of epileptic seizures where your consciousness is not impaired. I suffer with this form of epilepsy myself and was sure there was no emotional cause for my response to some things I was experiencing. What is it that makes you feel you need to leave the room? Can you slow it down in your mind and look at what you`re feeling physically and emotionally? If your having difficulty finding the cause its important not to overlook the physical.

Misophonia. I just leave the room the person is in. Sooooo much easier.
