New Fiesta - advice of possible

My wife is looking at buying a new Fiesta 1.0L ecoboost via a main dealer. She is being quoted €17,875 (without metallic paint) with a trade in of €2275.00 against her old ford which is just scrap - NCT failure and not economic to repair.

    So net cost of €15,600.

Paying cash for the new car and dealer is saying that €15,600 is best they can do.

Should we push for more or is there really no flexibility on new cars on a cash purchase? Is it worth trying another main dealer or are they all pretty much working to same costs?

She is also looking at a Hyundai i10 but really likes the Fiesta.

    Any opinions would be welcome.

    Thanks

Have you tried different Ford dealers? Its the only way to know who is offering the best deal.

Method of payment is not really a negotiation point with a trade-in or car to scrap, unless you are financing through the dealership where the dealer gets a commission from the bank for introducing a new customer. In this case you can push the dealer for slightly more discount.

Thanks. We thought that may be the case with not taking finance.

Cars are very expensive in Ireland. A better equipped 1 litre Fiesta with aircon and alloys amongst other extras would be 12750 in Germany and that's even before you do looking fr additional discounts.

Your not the first to bring this up, but i must always ask why bother ?

Different things cost different amounts in different countries.......... Germany has a huge auto industry, coupled with a huge amount of people who only lease cars yearly, so it makes sense for them to keep taxes on new cars low as they keep their own people employed mostly. The government gets their cut in other ways over there, the taxes on your wages are very high compared to here.

It makes no odds to us, as to bring back a car you would need to own it for at least 6 months or so in Germany and have proof you lived there that whole time etc.

wage taxes aren't that much higher for those on a moderate to higher wage.
Current model fiesta isn't made in Germany but the next one will.
The discount from RRP on lease calculation of Fiesta is 30% in my company car scheme.

    It is a Zetec.

Have a look at the car configurator on www.ford.ie

Target 6-7% discount for a straight deal. Add c.€600 for delivery.

That give c.€17500. Metallic is extra.

So I think the deal you are being offered isn't too bad really.

Dunno about the price as I have a second-hand Ford Fiesta, just weighing in to say that I love it, it's a Zetec as well and great to drive!

Get your phone book out and ring a few dealers and ask them for the best cash price they can give will only take a few minutes but i wouldnt think there would be that much between them.
