A group of us are heading away for the final weekend in June. The plan is to play Druids Glen and Druids Heath on Friday, stay over night and hopefully take in one more golf course around the area before we head home. I have a few courses in mind but cant make a decision. Below is the golf courses i have in mind. Bare in mind we will be travelling back to Laois, therefore any course along this route back from Wicklow we would be interesting in playing. All suggestions are welcome.

    Greystones
    Delgany
    Charlesland
    Glen of The Downs
    Bray

    Arklow GC
    Dun Laoighre (it's in Bray)

    Are all good options too.

There's also Woodenbridge and Macreddin and if you're taking the scenic route home you could stop in Tulfarris in Blessington on the way.

    Baltinglass might be another option.

It's a pity you couldn't play one of the Druid's courses on the Saturday morning, as the courses you mentioned would all be booked out by members. You could try Powerscourt as there are 36 holes there.

I would recommend Macreddin, usually no problem getting out on Sunday's, very reasonable green fees and above all a top golf course imo.

You can scratch Charlesland off your short-list for a start.

Woodenbridge is my recommendation although thats about 30mins south of Druids.

Also if ye are feeling a bit tired after the Friday you could do a lot worse than playing the Par 3 Glenmill course which is about 5 minutes from Druids.

Woodenbridge and Coolattin are much better than any of the above and handier for your trip home.

    True, and a fine course.

But if they have played 36 the day before and had a night out, they might be wise to take buggies!

I would vote for Woodenbridge as its a little gem on a sunny day and a nice course to play if you are on a wind down from a few hards days golfing.

Macreddin may be a better / tougher course but it requires buggies, Arklow and Coolattin are also good tests.

    Enjoy.

If you are travelling out the Blessington Road you could try Slade Valley Golf Club, they will even get you out during members times .

    Is Blessington a hilly course??

If its Blessington Lakes you are asking about, it's not hilly at all.

I was actually thinking of Baltinglass. I believe Baltinglass is a hilly course.
