Best decision you ever made

What decision do you look back on and think ' Yes, that was a good one'.

For me, it's being convinced to apply for a job in 2004 by my Dad that I thought I would have had no chance of getting. For various reasons (all positive), working in that role changed my life.

Walking away from my ex after 10 years together & uprooting myself to return home to nothing after many years away.

I left with a backpack full of personal stuff, left her the house, that was bought & paid for & 10 years of possessions I grafted hard for.

    Je non regrette rien...

Left a full time job, i was quite happy working in to return full time to college and get my degree and paying for it myself.

I am now coming to the end of my final year in college doing a course i really enjoy and job prospects are looking excellent for the area i am interested in.

Buying a motorbike. Not just the countless hours it has saved me from sitting in traffic but also my favourite thing to do in the world is go for a spin in the mountains on a nice sunny day

Keeping my daughter. I was given the option of having her adopted or leaving home. I chose to leave. Best decision ever, she's 18 next month and I've never regretted it.

    Living abroad for 2 years.
I was in a horrible state in Ireland. Depressed, lonely and going nowhere. Living abroad opened my mind and gave me confidence I never thought I'd have. I came back totally refreshed and I even met my fiancée there!

Left England when I was 18 to go live in Ireland with my Dad, I had just a suitcase of clothes and my exam certs. I've never looked back.
The contrast between the people in my life and who I am in the two countries is something that could inspire hope in anyone who is at rock bottom. Just as I was.

Borrowing 8k in 2005 to help fund travelling around the world for a year. That was the time when plenty of peers were borrowing hundreds of thousands to 'get on the property ladder'.

Quite insignificant compared to some of the stuff here, but the decision to do transition year back in school. I was dead against it but my mam convinced me. Before I was absolutely useless socially, but I learned a lot that year and made a a great group of friends, most of whom I'd still be quite close to. Definitely changed the direction of my life for the better.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Japan. Even though I had a huge culture shock I think it was exactly what I needed. That and the place had this weird welcoming warmth that was hard to find at first, but once you did it felt like home.

Buying a house when I was 24 in 1999. If I'd waited one more year, six months even, it would have been beyond me forever.
