Citroen Xsara Picasso, displaying messages & dying

Apologies if this is in the wrong section. I would really appreciate any advice anyone can give.

I have an 04 Citroen Xsara Picasso. On two occasions in the last month, I have gone out to my car and the locking system was not working, when I opened the car it was completely dead. When I try ten to fifteen minutes later the car would just start as normal.

While driving recently, the dash displayed "passenger airbag fault" for a few seconds then it would disappear. Two weeks ago, I was in a busy underground car park and when I got into my car the battery sign & the message "in economy mode" was displayed. No lights or radio had been left on so I thought nothing more of it as car started o.k. When I finally got to the car park exit the dash displayed the message "Brake (something) Fault" then my car completely died. After ten minutes of holding everyone up & beginning to push it out of the way it suddenly started again.

It passed the nct five weeks ago. The battery was only changed 10 months ago. When I asked my mechanic to look at it he said brakes and battery was in good condition. That, it would be looking for a needle in a haystack since it was different messages displayed on dashboard.

I have put a lot of money into fixing my car in the past. I love my car and don't really want to get rid of it but I have three young children and scared I might break down on the motorway. Any advice or idea on what is wrong?

It does sound like the dreaded French electrical poltergeists. I wonder if the battery is being charged properly?

I have not been driving the car as much as I normally do but I had my battery charged fully a month ago by road assistance.

What jimgoose means is - is the alternator charging the battery properly.

Although if you don't use it much maybe a slight drain on the battery is running it low.

A low battery can cause all sorts of sensor weirdness on modern cars. (The locking sounds like a wierd one though )
Check the alternator or get it checked.

How often do you use the car? What sort of distance?
