Has anybody noticed an upsurge in annoying pop ups of late ? I'm getting quite a few even browsing boards.ie on my tablet.
Can anyone recommend an app to clean my device.

Haven't noticed any recently myself. Only got them on one particular WiFi network in a villa I was staying in on holidays before.

None of the ones I tried worked at that time but try avg and/or lookout see if you get any results.

AirPush detector might help if you're on an older android OS.

For rooted devices, I prefer adfree. Homepage: http://adfree.bigtincan.com/

Thanks for the comments / pointers guys, I'm trying Adstock plus. First time it happened was on the wifi network in work, but it's now also happening on my note 4 on the 4g network. Adblock plus going onto the phone as well as the tablet now.

My two cents, try Adaway, no longer on Play, but being updated on XDA.

    Rooted devices.

Also, if you have a custom recovery, there is MoaAB flashable zip. [Mother of all Ad Blockers]

    Get an iPad.

    Expecting backlash.

^^ Popups are usually there on the free versions of the app or some unmentionable apps :)

If you want to pay for everything like iPad apps then there wont be any popups ;)

Apparently it requires root. My devices are not rooted.

I have owned several ipads, I prefer a platform that allows me a bit of freedom without having to go to the trouble of jailbreaking.

Firefox browser with ad block add on might help you, doesn't require root.

Tried it alas.. I'm still having the issue. I switched to the default browser and it's happening on this too. Maybe I'll have to root the tablet.

Just in case you didn't root, try Adguard for Android, requires no root.

Works well on my unrooted Nexus 7 2013.

Try an app called Air Push Detector which scans apps for that adware
