Facebook Messenger

Hi All.
I'm hoping to get this answered. When using Facebook messenger the person I am talking to has active now at the top, however when I go into a particular friends previous message who I am not talking too its say NOW at the top. What does this mean, is it that they are currently looking at that last message although it doesn't show the icon to say they are writing back. I'm just confused as to why it says two different things at the top. I understand what active 5 mins ago means. just not the active now and Now difference is

I was messaging someone on messenger but we were never "friends" on facebook , she was over from France and the first day she messaged me, I didn't get it until 48 hours later.

What happened on the last day,was that I was in the middle of texting her to say safe journey etc etc, when Her name was gone off messenger, I wasn;t able to type her a message and just "facebook user" appeared but her picture was there for a day. When I clicked on her picture, it said "content not found", and the next day her picture also disappeared. So no name, no picture no ability to click on profile and not able to message.


When I logged into facebook through my friends name, her facebook page was there.

Then after a few days, I updated my phone settings with the help of an apple customer service rep as I had other problems, (not able to upload pictures to facebook from my gallery), so once that was sorted, her name and picture reappeared and I can message her again if I want, but her facebook logo is now grey, beside her profile picture .

So her messenger logo/icon by her name is now gone just the grey facebook logo. When I click on her picture it says something like cannot upload try again later.

I went to my phone and tried to block her and when I typed in her name, her name and profile picture appeared, with the option to block her. Yet if I click or type their name on facebook I can't get her up on the page.

When I am on facebook on my desktop, it says I cannot reply to her message, but in my messenger on my phone, there is space there to type and the "send" button is active.

Anyone know what is going on? I've googled for 2 days but no luck.

Sounds like she's blocked you.

ok thanks, strange as I can in my messenger type a message to her
and if I go to block her on my phone , her profile pic and name appear. I thought maybe chat was turned off just for me.

What is that grey icon on facebook for?

She hasn't blocked me from whatsapp though I suppose you don't see contacts unless you scroll down the list.
