A good place to start looking for stoats is anywhere where there are rabbits. They are very elusive and can be hard to find. Back when I used to shoot rabbits for the pot, a stoats would often pop up out of nowhere when they heard the rabbit expire. Other than that, I've only seen them occasionally running across country roads and once on a trail camera.

Saw two playing up on the grand canal this morning. Ran back into the ditch before I actually recognised what they were and getting the camera to my eye. It does explain the unusual reaction to the area by the dogs over the last few days

I saw a pine marten yesterday driving to work, ran down a bank and 2ft onto the road then turned and ran back into the heavy Rhodo cover.
Cool looking animal like a ferret but bigger, bushier, redder and with longer legs.
They look like an awesome predator.
