I am preparing my documents to apply for a medical card. Do I have to pay 50 euro when I visit the GP to sign my application? Thank you for your reply!!!

Normally applicants leave the application with the GPS receptionist to process so, no.
I suppose if you insist on meeting with the GP solely for the purpose of completing the form then he/she would be justified in charging you for a consultation.

Thanks. They didn't say me anything, just gave me an hour for the appointment. Maybe I have to call again the GPS receptionist and I will ask if I can just leave my application. I have no so money to pay....

Did you say it was for medical card forms when you rang?

yes, of course. I live in Dublin 13 with my family. I went to the Grange clinic first, and they give mu an hour for Thuesday. Yesterday I went to one clinic in Donaghmede shopping center and asked the same - and they said the same :) - I have to come with my filled application and I have to pay for the first meeting.....

The doctor has to sign the form to say that he is prepared to take you on as a patient. If you are not already attending the clinic as a patient then they need to talk to you and get your medical history. Hence the need for an appointment, and as you don't have a medical card yet then you have to pay.
