    Really like this as a candid portrait. Very nice lighting and a great expression. Some would say that the subject should be engaging the camera, but I quite like her looking off to the right of frame. The only thing I might change is to clone out the highlight on the balloon as it does draw the eye a bit.

    Hey, thanks for coming back on this. :)

    It was a bit of luck, tbh. It was from a 21st and I probably took about 50 shots that evening...mindful of my slow the eff down policy! People were up and about, bopping around to tunes. It wasn't always possible to focus on one or a small group. This was the one I was most happy with (off guard expression, lighting, etc). It looked brighter on the preview screen afterwards and I was concerned her face would look like it was in uber bright sunlight, thankfully not. The other thing I found tricky was the low light setting of the room sometimes made it hard to observe what was in the viewfinder.

    Good practice anyway. Glad to have taken the camera.
