    What type of insurance would you need to have to host parties in people's homes such as karaoke nights for two hours .

    Public Liability Insurance would be compulsary. If there's going to be alcohol involved then it may be expensive.

    You should have your own insurance re equipment etc, but you could have a clause in your terms that the householder should insure the event. In that way, if someone coshes another person over the head with a bottle, its the householder they will seek compo from, not you.
