maxi dress - which shoes

I have a family event coming up next weekend. I've got the dress, one I never thought I'd buy but that I love.
It's a black maxi, satiny material fitted enough to waist with the flare right to the bottom. The bottom is multi-coloured but mainly white peach green grey.
My problem is the shoes. I don't know what to get.
I'm average height but am married into a family of skyscrapers so I always wear a heel. I don't think wedges are dressy enough for the dress or the event, so I'm thinking high sandals/peep toes? I'm also thinking court shoes wouldn't really suit the look?
I've no idea as maxis have been off my radar forever.

I think sandals (rather than peep toes) are your best bet with a maxi, I don't know why but I always think peep toes look a bit funny under a maxi dress!
