Anxiety when refurbishing a house

    Hi

Once I put down deposit on a house I thought that would be my big capital outlay to start the project however it's turning into a nightmare. I had to knock poor flat roof extension at back at house and start from scratch. Now house is getting new kitchen/utility/toilet extension, knocked through downstairs parlour room, new plumbing, rewire, gas, carpentry, plastering, fixtures, fittings... the whole shabang. I got a survey beforehand and he said house would be grand and was naive jumping into the project. I'm half way through, regretting it every day and stressed out of my mind at how expensive it will be. Has anyone had the same experience and is it worth it??

    Sounds like a deficient survey?

On the other hand, who subsequently advised you that you should knock the flat roof extension to the rear?

The survey said that the roof would need replacing in a few years. Other than that he said the house was solid. The extension was an original coal shed opened up into a small kitchen which had no foundations. If it wasn't knocked down I'd have uneven floors, 2 different level roofs and a poor place to install a new kitchen. This is information I learner post sale (bought in the mini boom last September with sale completed February)
