our deep well pump was cracked by the frost and Tuesday we replaced it with a new one and connected all back up, only problem now is it seems to be working ok but we have no water and it is not building up any pressure, the pump we were using was a 1hp pedrolla.

    any help appreciated

I doubt that Frost cracked your Deep Well Pump. Frost doesn't penetrate that deep. You could have some other problem. Have you checked that there is sufficient Water in the Well and depth to place the Pump. did the new pump need to be primed before installation.
Did you check to see that it was running before you put it into the Well. That's were I'd start with checking that it's running.

we got the pressure now but after you let the water run for 7-10 minutes its drops to zero again and pump keeps running but water stops

Are you pumping the well dry, how deep is the pick up?

130ft deep, it was pumping fine on the old pump but as stated it was leaking due to the crack but water coming no problem

would it be the valve on the end of the pipes going into the water

hi, its not the submersible type, it sits on top of an air cylinder and the pipes go into the water

The valve would not affect pumping, the non return just holds the pressure. Have you primed the new pump properly or is it a self priming unit?

What make and model is the new pump. ?

pedrolla, we have water now but when it runs for 10 minutes it stops again but will start again when release valve nut on top of pump is removed and topped up with water again,

Will it pump water for another 10 minutes then?

yes then water slows off and then stops altogether

Does the pump physically stop completely or keep running but no pumping?

stops pumping water but runs on

Sounds like you are emptying the well, one experiment you could try tomorrow is divert the hose back down the well so what you are pumping out goes back down.

Is the Well in a housing or out in the open. If it's in the open it could be that Leaves etc has fallen into the Well and is being sucked up against the lift pipe. I'd use a weight on a line to check how much Water is in the Well.

I wonder too if the water level has dropped in the well and most of those pumps are 1hp and ok for 60 -70 ft wells but I think you may need a stronger one for 100ft plus, just my thoughts
