    Has anyone done this course?
Would this course allow me to go to a level 8 biomedical science course in another college rather than progress on to the level 8 biotechnology as I'm more interested In the medical side

It should be possible, but some biomedical/medical science courses have a hospital placement in 2nd/3rd year, if you want to transfer to one of those, you'd most likely have to repeat a year. If your aim is to work in a hospital lab, CIT/UCC, DIT and GMIT might be a better option as these courses allow you to register as a medical scientist with the Academy of Medical Laboratory Science. It's still possible to do that with this course, it's just not as straightforward.
The 4th year still covers medical topics though, but with more of a focus on biopharmaceutical drugs, R&D and industry.

Hi idek1. It really depends on the college you were hoping to do the level 8 in. Admissions can depend on grades from level 7, and the modules covered. Your best bet would be to ring the colleges you are considering for level 8, and see what their admissions policy is.
There are a lot of medical subjects covered in level 8 though, it's not purely biotechnology. The subjects covered in fourth year include medical diagnostics, the likes of high tech medicines and lots of cell based subjects.
As kc90 said you can still go on to do hospital lab work, it's just not such a direct route.
It's a really interesting and enjoyable course, and most people who do the level 7 tend to progress to level 8. Hope this helps.
