---- SEE BELOW FIRST --- END OF THREAD.

Hi. I'm trying to open a port on F1000 router.

For example, I'm trying to open port 26. Cause I don't think its used in windows 7 or F1000 or TPlink routers.

See screen shots. Now, I try canyouseeme . org and It says no, its not open.

But, I have the F1000 moden with cat5 internet cable running out connected to a TPlink router. I use the TPlink router to access my internet in the other room. Cause the F1000 modem is to far away. This works fine for me. As I have 2 wireless networks now (more coverage). So you see the way its connected ?

Now, IF I open a port on the TPlink router (any port) the internet slows down from 40 meg to average of 2 meg. Why?

If I open a port on F1000 router nothing happens. No ports open , nor does it slow my internet down.

I have port 26 open TPC and UDP on both routers. But still no joy. But his would be no good as Its slowing down my internet connection.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

What I'm trying to do? I have a CCTV set up, and I finally got it set up, so I can PING it from windows 7. But that's about it. I'm stuck at this point. Driving me nuts, cause I know I'm connected to CCTV (it pings about 5ms). But cant access any video from it using , for example 192.168.0.122:26.

I tried a few P2P programs but they cant connect either. Any ideas??

    Mark.

    OMG!

I tried one last ditch effort. I just tried Internet explorer typed in 192.168.0.122:2002

and I can see the cams on the browser!!

Now, How the hell , can I set this up so I can use my phone when away to check in?

    port is 26
and data port I set to 2002.

    That any help?

Some add-on came up, on the bottom of the screen. I was using chrome all night for last 5 hours and nothing. But Internet Explorer is working, any ideas?

You've two routers, your making a mess to begin with for yourself.

Turn the TP link into an AP.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 152 ✭✭markmurphy

Like the way my network is set up all ready! it is on AP default mode!

Besides, if I connect directly(PC) to F1000 the ports still wont open...

So I'd be happy with a solution as simple as connection the F1000 and PC directly (which I have done) and open the dam port. But no, still no go.

    Any ideas?

have you set f1000 firewall to low in security -> firewall?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 152 ✭✭markmurphy

on the tech. support chat there for over 1 1/2 hours.

they at a loss why the ports wont open either.

It must be a fault with the eircom F1000 modem.

Can anyone please try open , say port 8080 and test it using can you see me . org ?

    At it 14 hours now...

Connected directly to F1000 modem. no matter what I do, they wont open.

    Thanks.

yup. Even turned off firewall on F1000 , and off windows 7 and turned off anti anti virus.

    still wont open.

Tenner says the port is open and you're listener is the issue.

As above, why is this in a different subnet? Thats just overcomplicating things.

Give your DVR a static IP Address of say 192.168.1.200. It probably responds on port 80 and port 7000~. Start by forwarding port 80 to the dvr, then enter your WAN IP address into your browser. Should give you the DVR login.

By the sounds of the above you cant even access it locally, which is nothing to do with port forwards (and probably everything to do with your local setup).

    OK STOP!
I can see it on my browser (IE ONLY). so all ip are ok only using one network now. to simplify things.

I have it connected directly to the F1000 and PC is connected directly to F1000 now. I can see cams on IE (via active x), but thats it. Cant get it on any other source.

Still forgetting about everything except opening ports, It still wont work. only using PC connected directly to F1000. Can't even get past that stage...have a look at screen shot.

    Thanks.

This is a known problem for many F1000 users that need port forwarding working properly for cctv, game servers and the like. The only certain fix is to unlock it and flash a recent zyxel firmware. You can do it yourself. See the Unlock your F1000 thread. You can get it done on adverts.

Are you sure? I've opened ports on mine. However there is an issue with ports for IPSEC IIRC.

If both the PC and the Camera are plugged into the Modem - the modem is not the problem. Port Forwarding only applies to connections coming in off the WAN interface.

    This is just wrong.

The OP want to use a browser, IE, to access his camera from the WAN. Accessing the trigger port on his router should permit this as he has a port forwarding rule correctly set. However it does not work properly on the F1000 with Eircom firmware. It does work with recent native zyxel firmware. I know two pubs locally where remote access to their CCTV stopped working when they got fibre from Eircom. The unlock n flash new firmware resolves the issue, nothing else worked. You can do the unlock n flash yourself, Eircom are obliged to allow you make the changes under their licence agreements with Linux.

How is it wrong if he can't even access the camera on the LAN? Read his post again.

can you provide the link to new firmware please.

You can only use Eircom firmwares on the locked F1000. Eircom have prevented users from flashing firmwares released by Zyxel, manufacturer of the F1000. You can get Zyxel firmwares for the F1000 from Zyxel ..... ftp://ftp.zyxel.it/firmware/VMG8924/

You need to unlock the F1000 to use those firmwares. Your port forwarding rule will work perfectly then.

Eircom are now supplying a new Huwaei modem named the F2000, it's a much better router, try get your hands on one

few days later! unlocked F1000 modem.

Latest firmware (more upto date than Eircom will release).

tried to run FTP server on pc, then access externally. no joy. Same crap.

The f1000 is a pile of dirt, you will find similar responses from on-line discussions.

So thats it, after a week of trying , eircom tech. guys failed, an expert failed today (but thanks D !).

Any one got a good alternative to F1000 rubbish ? (real name vmg8324-B10A - Zyxel.). Eircom are now not using the F1000 any more! Wonder why!

    GOT IT WORKING..................!!!

    8 Days later!!!

The thing with opening ports, they don't show open UNLESS you have some device listing to it! OMG!

Thanks to Dermot for the help.

Now I need a static IP from Eircom !

    YIPPPEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    M.

ps: anyone with Eircom F1000 modems, I highly recommend you unlock your modem and upgrade to latest firmware. Eircom is way behind. You will see good improvement on web pages loading up and no problems opening ports!
