Great price. We're almost getting to the stage where we'll see all laptops coming with SSD's. We're not quite there yet, but almost:)

OCZ is one of those manufacturers which does scare me due to their reputation in the past. But they are now owned by toshiba, so I would hope that will mean better drives!

What's the warranty. I don't understand why they didn't rename them.

not to flame OCZ,but couple years back their ssd s where cheapest on the market so went with 64gb which was around same price as 240 now,to say the least the drive failed straight out of the box, first random freezes, then reinstalled all system and few days in wasnt able even to do OS installation without it failing, returned back to amazon, no questions asked and stayed away from them.

Now its been 3-4 years back so don't know current situation and did they improve-even the best ssd drives in the market now have flaws just google samsung evos or intel and you get dozens of posts with issues,so even brand names have flaws but sometimes its better to fork out extra 20e for peace of mind.

With all this said,if person is on a budget couple of these are more then enough for everyday user, and price is quite fair, given that amazon sells them id pick one if had $$ to spare, since amazon takes returns easily if the item is defected.

Only thing id to is to stress test them with tasks and any software available, since main issue with ssd are usually controllers that fail to work properly.Other then that good bargain.

Had EXACTLY this experience with a 60gb Ocz ssd I bought.

The problem was a bit more intermittent and hard to pin down though.

Said I'd never buy another Ocz product again.

OCZ were well known for such issues a number of years back. So you would be right to be somewhat concerned. But since they have been taken over I wonder have things improved?

Good, and reputable SSDs of this capacity should run at around 90 euro from the likes of Crucial, so it could be worth going that route for anyone considering the change.

prob with SSD is your average consumer doesnt understand them, same with processor. The average non techie would assume a pentium quad with 8gb ram and 1tb hdd is better then an i5 dual with 4gb and 256gb SSD. Retailers focus on the big numbers, people get caught up in it. Same with cameras. 20Mpixel will outshine the 12Mpixel, even though the 12 has a bigger sensor, better processor and alot more features

Besides all the quality and customer care issues they have also once changed their specs (causing a drop in speed and capacity) without any changes to packaging or model numbers. Leaving buyers caught out with the lesser model.

Their answer? They'd swap it after you paid them an extra fee, to get the model you were originally thinking to have bought. Only after significant uproar this fee was waived.

Personally I will never buy this brand again, regardless of who took them over. And like you say, reputable brands like crucial are at the same price level.
