Time to move on my old commuter.

Bought from Dermot Illogical in May 2013. Was used for commuting in winter 2013 and half of winter 2014. Kept indoors, serviced by Penny Farthing.

    Size 56.

    Changes since then:

    - Mavic Aksiums & Grand Prix/GP 4000S tyres.
    - Recently serviced by Penny Farthing with new cables and bottom bracket (<1000 km)
    - Replaced rear brake calliper with Miche one, lots of clearance for mudguards.

Asking €250 for collection in Clonsilla, Dublin 15. Same price as I bought if for but with much better wheels.

I'll knock off €50 if you want the original wheels instead of Aksiums, but the rear original was (and still is) out of true so needs some work, maybe a seized spoke.

Comes with carrier bag of spares that I got from Dermot.

Have various extras to turn back into complete all-weather all-year commuter: mudguards, rack, dynamo light (but no dynamo). Not included in price but will supply for not much.

    56cm.

As pictured it fits me @ 6ft with short legs. I forgot to put the frame pump back on for the pic. That's the best bit :pac:

...and some nice Hope bar-end plugs.

I could be interested, pending a test ride. (Assuming you're located in Dublin?)

I won't haggle on price ... but I am hopeless with both clipless pedals and brown streaks up my back, so if you could re-install the mudguards you mention and the original pedals, that would seal the deal.

    Yes, sorry. Dublin 15.

I'll dig out the mudguards and check they fit OK. I'm sure I have flat pedals.

Nice one. Let us know when you're done with that and we can arrange a meetup.

(I'm based in South Dublin, but work near enough the center, so could do a city-center meetup during office hours, otherwise a weekend meetup elsewhere)

Hi Lumen, I've realized that I'd be horrible with friction-based shifters also, so I'll withdraw my interest and not waste any of your time digging out mudguards etc.

Good luck with the sale, she looks like a beaut.

I'll offer 200 subject to size fitting.

OK but for the record the rear shifting is indexed. The front is friction, to allow trim.

    Lowballer! :pac:

At this stage I'll accept €200 with the original wheels on it but am holding out for €250 with Aksiums.

Did I mention it has new cables and BB? :)

I know, I should be ashamed. Just tight on cash at the minute.

If your in a rush, its the best I can do, if no one else takes them though I will offer asking at the end of the month (after payday) and subject to fit.

I would want the Askiums though (and the pump).

A-ha, goes to show my ignorance ... I thought all those vintage down-tube shifters were friction-based?

if it was my size I would have yer arm off, but it's not, so I wont. Love the biopace. I had a bike with biopace and exage and it was unburstable.

They do either. You can fiddle with the shifter and make it friction-based, though I've never needed to do it. I run a 7sp cassette on the Aksium freehub body, which involves many spacers, but the rear shifting is actually the most pleasing thing about the bike.

My Dave Yates project has been slow to get off the ground...

Maybe it's the sun, maybe it's the long week I've had-- Offer asking. (Subject to fit- I'm your height, but longer legged/shorter torsoed.)

I'm out of internet contact for the weekend, but will be back online on Monday.

A pleasure doing business with you, sir.

Cram- apologies! If it's any consolation, when Lumen bought the bike two years ago I felt the same way you do now. If I decide to offload it at any stage (say, when the Yates becomes the dream bike I have in mind, rather than the kitchen ornament it currently is) I'll keep you posted.
