Best catch crop for store lambs?

    Im going to re-seed a field of 8 acres but want to put a catch crop in it beforehand. What are peoples opinions on the best catch crop for store lambs and how many lambs would 8 acres cater for?

    I am only thinking this through now...

    So are you planning to put in a catch crop in May, grow it for 2 - 3 months, graze (and maybe re-graze) and then put in grass seed Sept timeframe?

    I was actually just thinking of sowing in May/June and grazing it over the winter then re-seeding it next Spring. The field hasnt been ploughed in 20+ years so it should benefit it with a catch crop also there is a small possibility of making profits on the store lambs which could go down against the cost of re-seeding.
