Turning brown leather black?

I figure here is as good a place as any to put this.

I have a Gusti leather journal cover. Which was a gift & I love, but it only comes in brown (see image). The finish is kind of rough as it's meant to weather & wear over it's life, but I'd love to turn it black so it'll match the rest of my stuff.

Does anyone know of a permanent solution?

You could try black leather boot polish, or Fiebings Leather Dye...try the boot polish and you can gradually turn the cover a darker shade.

The leather dye is a bit messy but can give good results.
