Car Horn

I'm looking for a replacement standard 12v car horn but am looking for something with a deep burp\honk as opposed to the normal irritating squeaky beep sound. I'm not looking for anything complicated like air horns with relays etc. just a simple pull and fit replacement.

There's nowhere in any auto-factors I've looked in or anywhere online I can see where you can get to hear the horn sound before you buy.

Anyone recommend a good standard horn to buy or a model car that has one with the deep tone I'm after?

This is the only horn I would ever want, I really miss them from the 80's, you would regularly hear someone passing by at the weekends giving it a go...

I always see people raving about hella supertones. OK they are loud but in the recordings I've heard they still sound a bit high.
I think they come in a 2 tone kit - one 300hz, one 500hz.
Lower hertz number is "deeper".

Just listened to them on YouTube and they are far too high pitched. I'm looking for a much deeper bass like tone altogether like the sound clip link in my OP

Yup, can't make out why they are so popular either. Loud yes, better - no. I wonder if you got a kit with two of the 300hz maybe would it be better.

Beeping in Ireland is pretty rare - You never really get to figure out which cars have a proper tone rather than an effeminate "meeep".

Yup, that's much more like what I'm after but they are a crazy price & only seem to be available state side.

Yeah ideally if you knew car/jeep X had a good deep tone you could grab one from a scrappy.

I'd get them myself only that on the rare occasion I genuinely need em I'm too busy concentrating on avoiding a mess to remember if my horn is "bash the centre bit" or "push a little button".

OP You won't get the sound you want with a standard horn, both those sounds you linked to are air horns, electromagnetic diaphragm horns almost always sound tinny in comparison.
You could try a Stebel Nautilus which are a Miniature air horn and should be plug and play?

I don't think that is correct, I have seen a single horn (Non Air) in an old Wolseley I think it was some time back that had that deep tone.

And if you look at the PIAA installation instructions they are a straight swap (non air) & they seem to have a nice deep tone.
