We are planning to attend a wedding in August in the south of France, near Montpellier. We were hoping to extend the stay for about 10 days but are finding the accommodation options very expensive. Any thoughts on best options in France in peak season for family accommodation, 2 adults, 3 kids.

Campsite? Airbnb? Maybe somewhere further away from Montpellier might be cheaper — just travel in for the wedding on the day?

This place is 10/15 miles from Montpelier in a village called Castries. I stayed there 2 years ago and loved it, it was very quiet which suited and we drove a couple of miles to a tram station which took us straight into Montpelier. I have no idea how much this would cost as the place I stayed was owned by the friend of a friend.
