Can anybody recommend any good quads for 2-3k...looking for a 4x4 farm quad...honda seems to be be most popular as far as I can see?

Any problems people have with them?
Anytbjng ya need to look out for and how hard is it to get parts for then in case things break?

Will be mainly used just around te farm checking stock also used to pull small trailors occasionally ect so was thinking 350cc plus?

Also would a manual be better for pulling and more reliable? Automatics seem very popular

A honda for 2-3k would be a bad buy, tired, molested and hanging. Hard to get a good quad for that money. I would look at the UK market if i were you with that budget, at least they look after their bikes there. No major hassle in getting a bike shipped.

Use 250 Suzuki's here, don't see need for 4x4 unless ground gets very wet.

I would say if the op keeps an eye out he will pick up a good honda for 3 k.
They are there but get snapped up very quickly.
    2.5 years ago i bought privately a honda 420 4wd 290 hours for 3200.
Another plus with mine is its road registered.

When i was looking i found the cheaper bikes were cheaper here than in England

Cheaper here because they are wrecked bar the exception, saw a quad bought last week, the seller had soup put in with the oil to keep smoke down. Engine needs top end rebuild way down on compression.
Majority only service quads when they break down and the few that do service them only change the oil they dont even realise they have an oil filter.

My fear was a lot of them down here might be stolen and lads could be trying to get rid of them quick as a result. At least a lot of the english ones are registered so there is some traceability on them.
My original point was you can buy a good honda for 3 k ish. Mine was bought 2.5 years ago

How often should a quad be serviced roughly?

I had loads of quads even the newer honda 420 but im back to the honda foreman 450, i think they the best most reliable machine you will get with tons of power, i have two now one 00 and the other 02 paid €2800 and 3000 for them and apart from the service never give me any other unlike the 420

some trouble with engine and gearbox and just general niggly problems but local quad mechanic says not near as robust as the foreman

It's hard to find a well minded quad in Ireland

I have to agree. The irish dont know how to service anything right, quads cars tractors.
I have friends with cars who dont spend a penny on a car outside oil changes and cant understand why they get multiple big repair bills and breakdowns on a car. The same lads say to me that my car costs a lot of money to keep on the road even though it never breaks down
