Extras - vikings

    Hey, am off work at the moment between contracts, so decided to put myself down as an extra in vikings, as they had a open day yesterday, got talking with someone and they are looking for 8000 extras, I thought that number was a bit.. Massive. Is there any truth to it has anyone got any ideas what to expect from it, I've never been an extra, and it might kill a couple of days while I wait for the other contract to start.

    Supposedly yes, they are looking for 8k extras. It was on the bulletins I saw when I went in for it.

    Judging by friends who did this last year you can expect;

    1. Very early morning starts. The filming was out in Ashbourne for friends last year and they were getting up at 6am to be there for makeup and costume.
    2. A lot of standing around. Since you'll be in the background of scenes, and scenes will need to be shot multiple times, you'll find yourself doing a lot of standing around.
    3. Friendly cast members! I got good reports of cast members (main characters as well as other extras) being very friendly towards everyone.
    4. If the weather is hot, prepare to tolerate some sweating. The costume you wear might be armour or heavy cloth depending on your role, and if it's as warm out as it was last year you need to be able to tolerate the heat!
    5. An all-around good and memorable experience. The friends who did it, loved it and have signed up again this year!
