    Hi there

My NCT is due next month and I've recently moved to the IFSC, so am looking for a decent garage that'll service my car to pass standard. Would be very grateful for any recommendations, thanks

The very notion of servicing a car to NCT pass standard is at best misguided, at worst non-existent, and anyone offering such a service is finagling you.

I suppose I should rephrase the question to just "any decent garages in D1/IFSC?" :)

I wouldn't be au fait, but I hear good things about DC Motors on Richmond Road.

I've no personal experience of this crowd, but do remember people recommending them on boards, and they're just across the river from the IFSC in Lombard Street.

Car Dock always have nice cars in it when ever I'm passing. Seen some lovely classics and high powered bmws getting work done.

I reckon giving www.nctrepairs.ie a try, especially if it's a vag car. It's just on the ballybough road, so, 2 minutes drive from the IFSC.

surely garages that have calibrated rolling road equipment would be able to check brake/ suspension/ side slip/ focus of lights and emissions i.e cvrt test centre. Often these garages or just garages with a rolling road that will do a service and can include a "pre nct" for an extra €15- €25 with a service...

i would agree with you tho, garages that do "pre nct" checks without putting a vehicle threw a rolling road check is total guesswork.

Of course there are unscrupulous garages out there but i don't think its fair to tar them all with the same brush.....
