Audi TT Wheel Bearing Replacement?

Hi All, my 2001 audi TT 225 Quattro has noise coming out of back when driving and was told the wheel bearing is worn. Wondering if anyone had done the job to replace the rear bearing and how much cost is involved? (Cost of parts, labor hours etc.) I don't want to be ripped off as the mechanic told me it could take ages to replace the bearing?

    Many thanks in advance!

Its probably a hub bearing on the back and usually quicker to change than a bearing on its own. my accord hub bearing was 90 euro. fitting took only half hour. Can't imagine an Audi will be any more complicated.
Just copped the Quattro bit. That means it's driven at the rear too so the drive shaft may be additional work compared to a normal front wheel driven car.

Thanks Trabpc, yes, since it is quattro, it will be a bit trickier and that's where it might get expensive...

Thanks DaDumTish, you mean €300 at a wheeler dealer? I'd imagine main dealer would prob charge double and ask me to replace whole lot more parts?
    Any wheeler dealer you'd suggest?

Hi Tossy, humming noise when I get up to 30.40 miles. Jacked up the car and can hear metal scraping noise when spinning the rear left wheel. Same but slight noise on the rear right wheel, but relatively minor.

    lol,

what i mean is - the TV show wheeler dealers did a bit on replacing an audi quattro hub / bearing and it was a big enough job,

so I reckon it would be alot more than 90 euro possibly around 300 euro

Well, that showed how lack of TV-watching can embarrass oneself! :D
