Can't really find online what the likelihood is of getting it again?

Does it matter what age you get it first time round in terms of repeats ?
I have read it is possible to get it more than once but for most people it is just the one time but would love to know in general terms what the likelihood is.
    Thnaks.

Herpes zoster remains latent within the nerves after 'chicken pox'. Shingles occurs when it is re activated. It is dependent on a few factors.
Generally the older you get the more likely you are to get shingles. An old british study suggests a life time risk of 50% for ofne attack and 1% for a second. It's old data which might not have been influenced by current vaccination drives (current US stats put attack rate around the 30% mark and incidence around 1%)
The older you get the more your immune system deteriorates, so any cause of a compromised immune system will increase ones chances of developing shingles.

The current data out there does seem to suggest a second attack is quite small.
