Alrignt folks, ive planted a few spuds and hope to plant a few more in years to come,

i got someone to plant them for me yet quite hard getting people to plant when the weathers good and the grounds in good order, also quite costly getting people back to drill them up when the drills come down a bit

i was looking an old mf drill plough just the back of a older mf for smallish area.

ive little experience with them , but could justify one for drilling them up during the growing season.

Is there things to look for ,and is there bits that should be on them that might have been taken off them, eg additional boards or fins etc.

are they basically the three boards and is there anythig else that needs to be on them to make a drill , thanks and sorry for ignorance

No I think it's just the 6 boards with 3 points on them. No disc in front as the ground should be well rotovated before hand.

Just look for any weld or badly worn metal on it.
Make it isnt strained in any way and the boards are all straight.

    Simple enough implements

You sometimes see potato planters for sale, for similar money to a drill plough, and the beauty is they do all in the one operation.
So you don't get the scenario of the drill plough running out of the side of the drill.
The Fergie collectors have driven the price of old drill ploughs up above their worth, in my opinion.

I dont think i could justify a planter, as i nearly feel i would have to go and plant for other people to make it pay for itself, and i dont have the time !! nor the knowhow!!,

il have to think about it :)
