I've had an old Dyson DC05 for over 10 years, motor went on it about a month ago.
Missus wanted to upgrade & spend €300 but she gave me one shot at fixing it.
Irish spares companies were looking for €55 for the motor, you could get a chinese knock off for €25 on eBay but I got an original replacement on Amazon for about €35 delivered.
Youtube videos worked a treat, I even got to put the disassembled body through the dishwasher for extra sparkle.
It took about 10 minutes to reassemble, only hard part was making sure wires weren't being pinched & sussing how to align cable reel.
Handier than doing a 50 piece jigsaw.

So save yourself the price of technician, every part is replaceable & available online, it's no wonder they offer you so much on trade-ins considering how easy there are to refurb.

I've just changed one very similar to the OP.
Plenty of videos up on youtube or espares website, just google your model name + motor.
Getting the cable reel at the correct angle was the only delay for me as well, the body just won't click bag together until you get it just right.
