Later in the year i will be changing the car i want a 4x4 and like the above but have no dealings with either , thay are roughly the same price for a 2004. model tax not a deal breaker .
Any experience/insight would be much appreciated.
Plus i am not a disel fan and there does not seem to be many petrol options with the jeeps?

You need a diesel in a jeep as they aren't great on mpg. That said the 2.7 diesel GC jeep will do 35 mpg it's far superior vehicle in every way. Both on and off road.

I have read mixed views on the Jeep mainly reliable but transmissions are a week spot.
I think the 2.7 is a merc engine so should be good.

Jump on to jeep forum . com for advice on what to look out for.
Most of the hear say is from those who know nothing about them. Drove one for 5 years great machine much better than the Jap 4x4 and much more reliable than landrover range rover. Test drive one and take it out on motorway you be Suprised how well they go.

There is a 4.7 petrol but rare as hens teeth it be a nicer drive

2.7 diesel model is merc engine and gearbox.
    Rest is all Chrysler Jeep.
