Roundabout etiquette

I'm only a learner driver at the moment but one thing that's really frustrating me is the amount of people who don't seem to know the rules of how to enter and exit roundabouts. Roundabout 101 is give way to traffic on your right yet it's amazing the amount of people who don't obey this. Similarly, people don't seem to know how to use indicators properly. A common occurrence seems to be people who are turning right but instead of indicating left to leave, they leave with their right indicator on whichever is wrong as well.

Is it commonly like this or have I just been unlucky? It's quite unnerving as a learner driver to have too second guess what other drivers are doing due to them not doing things properly.

1/2 don't know how to use roundabout along with not understanding drive on left and give way to traffic on right.

Look at 3 lane motorway or carriageway
The driving lane is almost unused with most hogging over taking lanes.

Middle lane hoggers like zombies trundling along haven't a clue they should return to driving lane. so when they incounter a roundabout it's no surprise they make it up and hope for the best.

Only thing you can do is obey the rules of road and be aware others don't know or can't be bother. If there is a collision you should be in the right and not incur additional insurance premiums.

Welcome to the road in Ireland where indicators are optional, lanes mean nothing, fog lights are permanently on, and red traffic lights mean that only 3 more cars can go through the junctions. Also the local councils have been very good painting some roads with yellow grids for decoration. Double yellow lines mean that you must put on your "park anywhere" lights when parking there.

Yes, it happens every day. The other one is where you go into a roundabout in the right lane and the guy on your left decides to go all the way around to turn right alongside you only there's only one lane on the exit so you have to either brake to let him go or hit the gas to get ahead of him.

Another one is where there are two lanes on the roundabout, you are turning right so go in on the right lane but the idiot on your left (who is going straight ahead) cuts you off by driving straight into the right lane instead of taking the left lane to leave you space to negotiate your way around.

Defensive driving is the order of the day when driving in Ireland.
