Firstly I think toh should rinse it off.

    Snowfoam.

Wash with the two bucket method.

    Rinse again.

    Detar.

    Rinse again.

    Clay.

    Rinse.

    Deironize.

    Rinse.

Then you need some collinite 845, two light coats.

Bring it back for the retest with. 50 on the drivers seat.

Let us know how it goes.

I dought cleanin his car will help on his emissions mate haha
And you never mentiond polishing the car first before putting on the wax
And if it was me I'd de tar and rinse and then de iron and rinse the car before a clay and wash again after clay

Anyway how's the cat in the car man could be the cat as my cat was on the gt starlet and my emission were reading 4.50 with 3.50 fail so I was way above the pass rate so i bought a different cat for 40 quid and put it on the car and I got a reading of 0.01 emissions so brought them right down man also give the car a good drive before the nct so as the cat heats up a nice but and will help lower emissions
Keep me posted how you get on

Fresh yoke, then. I think it isn't fuelling properly for some reason. In other words, I think the computer (a.k.a. ECU) is being told lies which is in turn causing it to do the Wrong Thing(TM). That Lambda reading would indicate a lean condition, which is a little weird. I'd be looking at the coolant temperature sensor, idle control stepper-motor, possibly the MAP sensor. Inspecting the throttle-body for gunk wouldn't go amiss either.

Is the idle speed normal, without any "hunting" or scooting up-and-down?

Yeah there cheap enough of you know of one that has passed the nct buy it and see how you get on .. Just buy new gaskets and nuts and bolts before doin the job as mine were a mess cause there's so much heat on the cat yano they do t be great so new cat nuts and bolts followed by new gaskets and you should be laughin man
A lot of people put diptane into the petrol tank when it's full and it helps clear it all out its ment to be great stuff but Iv never used it

There could be a vacuum leak to cause the lambda to be slightly high. Or a small hole in the exhaust.

The co readings would indicate that the cat has failed.

i put my hand on the exhaust and theres a bit of air coming out buts it not a hole its between the middle silencer and the exhaust the connection bit.........
    would that affect it

That could affect the lambda reading. Not the co.

Have you tried any of the fuel additives?
If that fails I think you can have the timing adjusted slightly to reduce the emissions.
