I am completely in the dark when it comes to tax.

We are married 3 years in june but have not switched tax credits. I am being told this will be of benefit to us.

My earnings are roughly 32k a year and my husband is just over 25k a year.

How would this work out for us?

    Appreciate your advice! :)

The main reason to update your status is if anything changes in the future you can immediately transfer your tax credits to your other half to save them going to waste. If you just remain single on the system that will be a lot more awkward when needed.

At your current salary rates there would be no immediate difference but you're just approaching the point where transferring some will be of benefit to the higher earner.

i'm in exact same situation and we have a registered marriage with revenue. tbh there is no change whatsoever in terms of income. lady in revenue said that more and less we are earning same money so our tax credits are split evenily
