Might take a look at a UK reg car in Monaghan this week. Texted owner earlier,he's away until Wednesday so only have the reg. Did a Vehicle Enquiry on the .gov.uk site and it came up "Untaxed:Tax due 8th January 2015" .MOT is fine, says it expires 1st June 2015. Should I stay clear of it?

The car could have been brought into the country since before the tax expired.

Its still on UK reg and is a private seller. I'll wait until I get more details from him and then do a full mileage and MOT check before going to view it

Just be careful that the car hasn't already been VRT inspected otherwise you could have hassle with Revenue and VRT late penalties.

Ok, thanks. How could I check that out?

Not sure maybe try and make a VRT inspection booking on the NCT site or ring them.

I don't think it will be a problem once you produce a receipt saying you only purchased the car recently but then again Revenue can be awkward enough to deal with at the best of times.
