Hi all, hope I'm posting in the correct place.

Has anyone downgraded their M7 to previous versions? I've never attempted rooting my M7 because after researching how to do it, it seems typically to get users the latest android versions before they are released.

I hate lollipop 5.0.2 & i despised HTC sense 6 the moment it came out lol.
So im wondering if its possible to go back to the good old days of android 4.4 & sense 5.5 when life was grand & my m7 was buttery smooth & stable. Plus i adored the clock & look of the original blinkfeed before sense 6 uglied it.

You'd have to root and install a custom recovery and ROM as far as I know.

It takes like an hour and its pretty foolproof, you'd have to find a 4.4 Official Version of android to install too, which wouldn't be hard to find. Try www.needrom.com

While you're already installing a new ROM, Cyanogenmod may be worth a look, but if you enjoy sense then stick with what you know

    Thanks Digital Solitude.

That sounds like a plan. i like the 'foolproof' idea!
Am i right in thinking that its a two parter.. root & install pure android then install sense afterwards?

No you can install it all in one go. I'll have a look now and they to post some links for you

Step One, we here have a pretty comprehensive guide to rooting your phone.

That guide also installs a custom recovery.

Next, you need to install a ROM.
This is a stock HTC ROM, one you used before the upgrade, it's only Sense 5.5 if that's an issue, and this is a custom ROM, it's based on Sense so it will be very similar, it's Sense 6.0 and Android 4.4.2 so it'll have a few more bugfixes too.

All done!! Took me hours last night but was so worth it.
I rooted using supersu & twrp. it failed to install the rom digital solitude linked to me after numerous attempts.
Instead i found one on the xda forums called Renovation 9.0 & it worked!!

Renovation 9.0 is based off stock android 4.4.2 & sense 5.5 so its perfect for me.
My phone looks great now again with the blinkfeed & everything looking slick & back to black!

the htc stock browser is now lag free & fast again. Could never go without it as the text reflow is the business!!

Huge thanks to Digital Solitude for all his help & knowledge. I love my M7 all over again!!!
