    Hi all

Have a carbon blue e60 535d and stone chippings from the long commutes are destroying the paint.

Have been thinking about a gloss black wrap but I have no experience with them nor have I seen a gloss wrap just matt and I dont like the finish of them.

Anyone have any experience with gloss wrap ?

How they look, how well they wear ? where abouts is the best place to get done.

Are they worth it to protect the paint ?

    Thanks

    Chris

I wrapped my car before and I wouldn't recommend it, you will never be truely happy with the finish and the gloss is never as shiny as paint. I'd put the money towards painting the bits you aren't happy with instead as the wrap will hide nothing, all stone chips etc will be visible through it.

Stay away from gloss wraps in flat colours. They look absolutely awful. It looks like the worst, non-reflective, orange peel finish you could find.

The metallic colours look a bit better, but just slightly. It's something you need to see in person, as in pics they look fine.

The satin and matte colours are fine, but that's a totally different look.

Even with your stonechips, they would all need to be sanded down before it's wrapped.

Personally, with a nice colour like Carbon Black (shines navy in sun) I'd get the chipped parts resprayed, and the whole car machine polished by a detailer. I'd then get 'ventureshield' (a clear protective film) on the vulnerable areas to protect the respray.
