Shopping list for new car

I have a new car on the way, hopefully be here by the summer. I am going to tell the garage not to wash it so I can have a go and protecting the paint. I also want to protect the wheels so they are easier to maintain.

I think I will need to order some stuff soon and wanted to know is there a set of products that are the ones I should buy?

I will need to order some new micro Fibres and iron x but after that I am not sure what to get.

We have a bottle of car shampoo out in the garage, probably bought in Halfords so not sure should I get some other stuff?

Would really appreciate some advice on a small shopping list.

Also, should I buy a snow foam lance for the washer. They look great but not sure if it's a real visual thing or are they actually worth it.

    Thank you

First off congrats on choosing to look after it yourself.

Secondly I am liking the username :pac:

    OK
Basically to get you started you asked about a foam lance.
I would not wash my car without it.

    Essential in my view.

    Foam

Haven't used this but good reviews about it

    Washmitt

    2 Buckets

    Shampoo
I like this but there are others

    Drying towel

on top of that you will need

    IronX

    Sealer / wax

    QD

    Tyre dressing

    Window cleaner.

Interior dressing if it is your thing.

Curran will be along there at some point and could possibly suggest differing items to my choices.
He will also be able to tel you in and when detailingshed will have snow foam lances back in stock.

    Cheers for that.

I'll get some stuff ordered. I'll post a picture or two if the car ever arrives! The username is nothing to do with skoda by the way. It's an old guitar I have!!

    Ha.
I have vRS in the brain.

What car color are you getting is it fair to ask?

Its met black, so interested in getting a good sealant on it. I am new to these though. I do have a DA polisher and have ironx'd and clayed a car before but only ever used a wax. Reading about some of these sealants.

From what I understand is clean the car, get iron and tar off it using ironx etc?

Paint should be fine, but if its not ill give it a light polish if needed. And at that stage apply a sealant?

What is the best stuff for this? Gtech?

Can I use the same stuff on the alloys?

    Cheers

For that colour car I would suggest adding a bottle of blacklight to your list, it's amazing on dark cars.

Good luck with the new car!

This is the direction I will most likely go with my car once it arrives.

I actually looked for advice from Curran just a couple of days ago about Carpro products.

    Have a look.

Vectra has recommended two very good products above if you are looking for a durable sealant that will protect well and make regular maintenance washing quick and easy.

Anything I might have said has been covered, but if you've any other questions, fire ahead! :)

Thank you gents. I did read that thread and found it useful, probably should have asked on there rather than ask same question again but wasn't sure were you just asking about one brand only!

It was more the sealant that I wanted to know about, I'll go ahead and order that. Might even buy myself a wee snowy foamy maker hodja for the ole hose!

    Cheers

That is something I needed to clarify with Curran.
Do we need any specific foam for CQUK or is regular foam ok?

Good question, and had to get confirmation from Avi of CarPro.
And the reply; "Any snow foam can be used, and for best cleaning effect, of course, Reset is the best since it doesnt contain any polymers or waxes"

    Hope this helps!! :)

Strange how "Any" foam would do but a specific shampoo is needed.
    Makes you wonder..

    Snow Foam Lance €62.95
50Cal Combat Neutral Snow Foam €12.95
    Microfiber Madness Incredimitt €22.95
    Two Bucket Method Kit €35.95
    Chemical Guys Mr. Pink €9.95
Microfiber Madness Dry Me Crazy €21.95
    CarPro Cquartz CQUK Kit €65.95
    CarPro DLUX Kit €35.95
    €268.60

So this thread hasn't been forgotten about. The car should hopefully be with me in the next week or so (22 weeks later:o).

Not sure I am wise looking at spending another few hundred on these products. Probably obvious answer on this forum is going to be "You'd be stupid not to."?

I want to get the car sealed with the CQ stuff, but not sure how necessary the rest is?

    Cheers

I would add a bottle of reload.

If you want the car coated in CQUK, thats fine, but the vitals of that list are the 2 buckets, Incredimitt and the Dry Me Crazy....the minimum essentials to keeping a car in tip top shape.
