    Hi there
Ive moved to eircom. I'm in the countryside but getting 14mbps.
When 3 people using Internet all on wifi it gets very slow and interrupted.
    I assume that's the router.
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced router for home use?
Or even someway of resolving these issues.

Thats just the broadband it cant handle it at all. If someone is downloading or uploading it will be basically unusable for others. Is the exchange you are on scheduled for a vdsl upgrade?

If you had 100Mb DS and 8 people on cleints, the wifi might be your choke point, but in your case the bandwidth isnt there.

As your family/flatmates to do any heavy downloading at night when the rest are offline, might alleviate it a bit. If you have Sky On Demand, donwload your box sets when others arent online. Same for game patches etc.

Are you actually getting 14Mb/s or are you on 'up to 14Mb/s'?

Have you done a speed test to confirm what you are actually getting?

Excellent ....... if one of the three were to connect via ethernet cable instead of wifi would things improve?
    Might be worth testing.

You might also try changing the wireless channel being used ..... there might be interference on the channel being used.

I guess it is possible that one or more is downloading heavily at the times you get drop-outs ....... there might be some balancing features in the router which could help with that ...... so that one connection does not hog all the bandwidth.

Good advice mate, I'll give that a go.
Really appreciate you taking the time to reply.
