Heating system - still running after turning off?

    Hi all

Just something I've noticed recently - When our heating systems timer turns off I still hear it running as if it is still on. So the system is definitely turned off, immersion is off etc, heaters gone off etc but yet one of the copper pipes from the hot press up to the attic is still hot with the usual noise as if the heating system is on.

I thought it might be the hour change recently that the system is running an hour later but it's not. Seems to go on for an hour or two after the system turns off.

    Would this be normal?

    Cheers

What type of system have you Gas or Oil?
Is the boiler running on or is it just noise?
On a gas boiler there is a pump overrun so when the boiler stops the pump runs on for a few minutes to dissipate heat in the heat exchanger.

Its oil. The boiler itself (external) isn't running. But for example the control has 3 areas/setting - 2 divisions for the house and one for hot water (as per the pic below). The hot water would have turned off this morning around 7am while the last house setting would have turned off at 9am. At the moment I can still hear the noise in the hotpress up into the attic like as if the heating is still on. One of the copper pipes going from the hot press behind the tank up into the attic is still really hot.

Edit - actually noticed the boiler is after coming on, and the rads have started heating up, despite everything being turned off

Well initially one zone came on, but I was away there for a couple of hours and I'd say the other zone was on while I was out. It's almost like it's stuck on some schedule, despite all settings being at 'off'. I might give the guy that fitted it a few years ago a shout tomorrow.
