So this is my second weekend trying to find my feet, thankfully the weather is better. It's not easy, I see a nice photo opportunity, take a few shots, they look great on the camera LCD screen but when I view them on the laptop they aren't as good, the colour seems allot more vivid on the camera.

I reckon this is the best shot I took, any C&C's would be great?

    Are you shooting Raw?

If so the picture you see on the camera display is not the RAW file- it's a JPEG generated by the camera for display purposes and will therefore have some processing algorithms applied.

The RAW file you open on your computer screen will be just that- raw.

The other potential reason for the difference is that at larger resolutions flaws are simply more noticeable!

I'm shooting in both raw and JPEG but I'm not seeing any major difference between the quality of each. I've been playing around with editing the raw pictures using the software that came with the camera, seems to be helping.

As said above, the RAW file is not what you see. It is the data from the sensor but it has a small JPEG embedded.
When you process this data you will appreciate having all the data rather than just the information that the JPEG retains.
