I could be wrong but I get the impression modern clutches last the life of the car.

Someone will probably be along in a minute to say they got 10 million miles out of a Toyota carina clutch.

Currently on 250,000 miles on original clutch.
02 A6 1.9 TDI. UK import that came 98k miles and service history when I bought it 8 years ago and no mention of clutch, so I presume it's still original :)

A poster of bygone days had a Carina E with over 425k miles on its original clutch. Ded_Zebra perhaps can verify the mileage on his old Primera, over 370k miles on original clutch. None of this kilometres rubbish to make it look bigger.

    Doubt many will top that....

Quite a lot of motorway miles I'd imagine. Still bloody impressive!

Id an astra with (i suspected) at least 250k miles on it's first.

I bought a brand new Avensis back in 2003, passed it onto my father around 2007 and it had well over 230k miles on it when the gearbox went on it a few years later. It was still on it's original clutch at that time though.

250k Kms on a 1.6 tdi focus. Sold it and got 60k km out of a brand new clutch.

I think even when a clutch is on the way out you'll get a long while out of it. I bought a 2000 petrol focus with 146k on the clock and the clutch was slipping quite badly. I did'nt have the money so kept driving it and got atleast 6 months before I decided it was better to put a new one in.

I'm sure I could have gotten a few more weeks/months out of it though..

I've never had a clutch fail in twenty years and many 100ks of driving, had to change a couple due to the flywheel but clutch was A1

198,000 miles on the original clutch in 1.6 Avensis. It's started slipping under "heavy" acceleration so I've ordered another one. Amassing and improvising the tools to change it now.
