HELP- Garda Vetting for UK job

Hey everyone!

I am super stressed about this and could really appreciate your help.

I have been hired as a tour guide that goes around Europe with children over the summer. The company is based in the UK and require vetting/clearance.

So I can't apply for Garda Vetting as this company is not registered for that.
The Police cert of character is only available for countries outside of EU.
And the Garda Disclousre of info cert is not able to be used as vetting?

What on earth do I do?!

I went into several Garda stations and they all told me different things.

One said to pretend I am going to Australia and get a police cert?

One said to use vetting from another organisation. I have tried this but they said they cannot give the vetted forms out as they must be destroyed in accordance with law.

I've applied for the data Disclousre because it's worth a shot!


This job means a lot to me and I am getting very upset. Any advice?

I think the trip to Australia / police cert advice sounds good. Shure'n you MIGHT go there after your tour of duty in the UK ends!

Can you not apply for clearance checks in the UK through the company?

Police Certificate of Character is obtainable for use in any country... You are wrong with regard to the 'outside the EU' rule. Go to a garda station and explain what you need and you'll be set straight.

Should be no issue getting a DBS check via the UK company as I've done this several times

That's not right. It's issued for visa or adoption purposes only and is not to be issued for work purposes.

As per Citizens Information

You can only get a Police Certificate in certain circumstances. They are issued when required by consular authorities. For example, Police Certificates are often required before you can apply for a visa to visit or travel to other countries. They are not issued for employment or any other purpose. However, they can be issued for the setting up or registering a business in another EU member state.

you need the form posted to you as you are in Ireland
