Any suggestions on the best reasonably
    Priced ammo for foxes?
I know I am currently selling the gun but it looks like I may keep it if no more interest this weekend.
    So any suggestions?
    American eagle, Hornady, rem?
And in terms of the distance say from 80 - 180 yards.

I was told 38 quid for em in tallaght but Lucan has them for 25 ???
I've heard and read they are great rounds for foxes and knocks me every time at most ranges.
What about fiocchi? Heard good on them aswell and reasonably priced

Was wondering on them as I just read online of them few mins ago.
    Are they worth the money??

never used them, but they're cheaper than Hornady VMax - get 50 rounds in a box of fiocchi against 20 in box Hornady.

Hornady VMax a devastating round. No reason to believe Fiocchi any different - also seem to remember posters saying they prefer the 40gr Fiocchi for same price? Some guys like the 40gr because they drop less and they can hold on target to very long range without holdover. Don't worry about the weight - all these will drop a fox on the spot with one in the engine room.

Hornady 40 grain - my CZ Kevlar absolutely loves them and shoots very very flat

Using Norma 50gr v max, brilliant but hard to find and a bit dearer.

Hornady is good value too and 40 and 55 gr are excellent foxing rounds if your rifle likes them.

John Lambert does Hornady 55grain/40 grain V-Max €110 per 100.

Ask yourself what is reasonably priced, as you really won't be shooting a lot of them other than zeroing time.

Fiocchi 55gr VMax at about €40 for 50 of them will drop a fox between 50 and out to 500 yards. Its an excellent round and is accurate out of most rifles be it 1-8 or1-12 twist. And iirc Hornady supply the bullet to Fiocchi and is the very same as Hornady's own VMax. Fiocchi just stick it onto their own brass

Any of the VMax or VShok rounds are devastating on a fox or any animal for that matter.

    Just Aim Small ;);)

Fiocchi VMax same bullet as the hornady so same impact effect, Iv swaped from hoenady to fiocchi simply due to the price and cant find any difference between the two of them

With my 223 I tried several brands of ammo over time and found 2 or 3 with best combination of performance/price which shot to a reasonably similar point of impact @ 100yds.

Then I profiled each round to longer distances and stuck a note inside my scope cap.

So I can shoot rocks and rabbits with FMJ and use expanding ammo for foxes etc. without changing scope settings - this is just what I do (point and shoot, with a little holdover at longer ranges, if necessary - but I rarely shoot beyond 200yds; it's entirely possible, even with my setup, but too much effort for me - I just find it more convenient to stalk a bit closer).

For precision work, my 700 in 223 likes 50gr Sako ammo.

Do a bit of research and find out what bullets the manufacturers are using. That's how I would choose.

My favourite bullet is the Sierra: Match King for target work and Game King for hunting/culling. I believe Federal often uses Sierra bullets in their factory ammo. If you can find them, I would use the Sierra's for foxes.

Hornady is a great bullet/round and I would not hesitate to use anything from them: Superformance, brown box, or what not.

Nosler and Berger bullets are also some of my favorites. Although, I have not come across many boxes of Trophy Grade Nosler or HSM in Ireland.

A fox sized target inside of 200ya isn't asking much of modern ammo. You aren't looking for precision, but accuracy.

Even the cheaper stuff: Prvi, PMC, American Eagle, will have more than enough accuracy.

With regards to cheap ammo il avoid Barnaul.
Found me hard to eject from chamber and one got stuck so I was advised by pat in Lucan and some lads on boards to avoid me like the plague.
American eagle I havint had problem with so far but as I said I'd like other more experienced lads on this to offer advice which I've gotten plenty of so far so a big thumbs up to all

A friend of mine got a box of Barnaul free when he bought his .223 he tried it in his Savage 1-12 twist and I tried it in my T3 1-8 twist Both of us would have had better groupings with a blunderbus

Came across this video a while ago. Demonstrates Hornady Vmax. I've had runners with everything apart from Vmax Vshok ammo. Even clipping their arses makes a mess and incapacitates them on the spot......

fiochi vmax really is the best for value for money and accuracy
