Printing half pages from emails....

Trying to sort out this for a family member in the UK over the phone, which is proving tricky...

Windows 7 pc, Internet Explorer, Hotmail. Printing out a an email to a Canon MG3200 series printer connected on USB. It's printing out the header, banner ads, the inbox/outbox/sent buttons n the left and then about half of the email body itself.
I have printed the email myself and it is one A4 page, no more. Ive got them to select "all pages" when printing but Im assuming the print preview is showing one page and thats what it's printing, albeit incorrectly.

Ive gone into the diagnosis tool and reset every print setting to default. Ive done all print head alignment and test pattern tasks....

I know the last resort will be reinstalling a driver but that's going to be tricky with an older person whos not really up for getting into all that, over the phone. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Just a quick thought off the top of my head. I presume they are trying to print using file and clicking on print from the browser. If I remember correctly there is a print option within Hotmail. Located top right of email, I think.

They are probably selecting Print from the browser menu. To print just the email they need to go to the ACTIONS menu on the right hand side of the message and select print message from there, that should work for them, As per what madfcuker has said and its unlikely a setup issue.

Good thinking. I had wondered about that, as she does indeed go to File>Print every time. I was getting her to right click and print, but I assume thats using the browser's print setup as well. I'll ask her to try that so.

If all else fails you can install a virtual printer

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ can't remember if you have to untick an adware / toolbar thingy

prints page to pdf , the problem is then how to print just the page you want , but you can do stuff like printing two pages on one.

Thanks lads, that did the trick. It still didn't print it out in one page as i expected (since I have the exact same model printer) but it did print the bottom of the email to a second page. Considering the difficulty in troubleshooting this, that will do fine.
