Tyre advice?

I have 215/45 16's on my car at the moment and am looking for some advice.

I would like to replace the set that are on it, 2 x Dunlops and 2 x Nankangs, with something more comfortable

Anyone have these size tyres and care to comment on what make they have?
The above tyres are both noisy and uncomfortable.

    Thanks.

I put a pair of 255/40 Hankook Ventus Evo tyres on mine a few weeks ago, there's little to no noise from them, better than the P-Zeros I had on the back for noise anyway.

Thanks, where did you get them from?

I ordered mine from a local fitter but yet eyre also available on Oponeo so you then just need to get someone to fit them.

Agree with Foxhole, Hankooks are a good quiet tyre. 215/45 is a less common size though, what sort of car are you driving?

Ok cool, will see if they are available in my size so.
I assumed you were in Cork too with "Real Capital" :)

I had something from the vw/ag rolling in my head alright, They do go for the 215 widths. :D

Hankook don't do my size, the nearest size is 205/50 16.

Would they be ok to fit instead?

Your size is a less common size so it might be difficult to source them locally other than being offered the obligatory cheap plastic unknown brands.

I had these on a Focus a number of years ago and they were excellent:

Just checked on a measurement app.
They would be a little under 2% larger so pretty much identical!
Cheaper too, and 205 (very common) width will still be more than sufficient on any car under 1,100 kgs.

Speedo wise, you'll be well within error tolerance. 60mph would now be 61.2mph :D

Thanks, so did they order the tyres for you and then fit them or did you bring them and they fitted them?

I got them to order and fit them, mine were €180 a corner but I'd say yours would be more around 100/120 I'd say. Possibly even less.

Don't get me started, whoever honestly thought that was an ideal name for a product that should do anything but sail, needs to be lined against a wall with everyone at the board meeting who agreed and shot with balls of their own ****e. :D

Renegade, the code on my tyres after "DOT" is just letters and no digits. Would there be digits on the other side, in which case I'd have to get under the car a bit to determine the age?

Aye, If they're not on one side, they're usually on the other. Have a quick study of the tyre too, as it can sometimes be indicative of a tyre placed on the rim, wrongly :o

    131 George, why?

I was just wondering because I hadn't come across that size tyre on one before.

Ok, the default answer from any tyre place I went into was Nankang, which are on it and I find very hard, they are marked XL though so I guess re-inforced sidewall.

The Dunlops are not too bad compared to them, so have ordered 2 x more of the same Dunlop from a place here in Cork.
