Could you make fire without the obvious of having flint, matches or a lighter? I would be confident in making fire with the bow drill method but maybe there is an easier way?[SIZE=+1]

Have started fires with a bow drill, but there are a bunch of easier ways

    Magnifying glass
    tinfoil and a battery
chlorine and petrol or brake fluid

No other tools or equipment limits you to two choices really - friction or sun. Friction is going to be some variation of a bow drill, sun is going to be some variation of a lens.

    do friction burns count???

    What about a fire piston?

Have you friction burns due to a piston maybe?

Sure, but that doesn't fit into your "no other tools or equipment" clause.

If you're not carrying a magnifying glass, and you're not driving, you've probably brought a camera for some nature shots - dismantle the camera and use the lens like a magnifying glass.

I'd be nuts to go anywhere without my zippo and a proper survival knife though.

Heh, now I remember when I used go camping as a child, I used feed myself fairly well on raw vegetables from turnips and carrots to whole heads of cabbage! :D

I'd heard that the rabbits were riddled with mixamatosis, so thankfully I never got that hungry!

Fire wasn't really the easiest thing to do with Irish weather though between the moorlands, boglands and wet woodlands!

If you have a camera then it will have a battery (unless you are a complete purist). Skip the lens part, just generate a spark from the battery.

Polished coke can will generate enough heat to start a fire on a sunny day.

I think I'd use a birthday cake. With candles on it. That have already been lit. And not blown out.

Make a lens out of some ice, not very easy

Wire wool and a battery are easy

concentrated sulphuric acid is good, but battery acid has way too much water

Chlorine trifluoride would be an ideal solution

bow probably the easiest, unless you have made tinder before in which case all you need are sparks

them magnesium sticks and flints are great

A petrol soaked rag and a lighter makes a handy fire.
