Private sales 20k+?

Browsing carzone to check out some motors around the 20-25k mark and I'm noticing a few private sellers trying to sell cars in a this price range.

No real difference between their prices and dealer prices for similar cars (1-2k more maybe).

Personally, if I'm spending that kind of money, I want a warranty and comeback, not to mention most of us don't have that kind of cash available and so financing a private sale isn't really an option.

Are they able to sell them at all or do they all end up being sold with a large discount? Anyone sold or brought privately in this price range?

Of course they all but they will need to be priced well below main dealer.
I'd much rather buy a 3 year old car for example off the original owner, at his home with all its paperwork etc than viewing cars at any dealer where you are highly likely to be fed a line of bullsh1t to help them shift their stock of varying quality.
At least with the private sale, one came get an impression of the type of person the owner was and how they likely kept the car. They will most likely not be a professional liar unlike the forecourt professional.
